One of the Karen Millen designers undertook an unusual commission recently to create a couture dress, with proceeds donated to charity.

Louise Roper won the made-to-measure Karen Millen dress in a charity auction for Richard House, a hospice for terminally ill children. The winning bid was £6,000.

Louise really enjoyed being involved in each stage of the design process, and brought her best friends along to the design studio to provide advice and honest opinion! The designer worked with her to select her favourite features from existing Karen Millen designs, and to choose the perfect fabric for her custom-made dress.

The finished dress is ¾ length red stretch satin, split to the thigh with a dramatic bow detail at the front and a low back. Karen Millen also donated a matching bag and shoes to complete the outfit.

Louise looked stunning at her Leaver’s Ball in May, after completing her International Baccalaureate, and plans to wear the dress again in Paris this summer.

Karen Millen supports Richard House, which is London’s first children’s hospice, providing care and support for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.
